Let Pareto draft the values you need from a paper, with source quotes you can check before adding them to your review.
Selected fields from SYN-05, a fictional excerpt in our frozen test set. Recreated from a real Pareto run, not a screenshot or clinical evidence.
Background: An earlier pilot enrolled 102 people and followed them for 6 weeks. Those values do not describe this trial.
The intervention was a walking program.
The comparator was usual care.
After screening 119 candidates, 92 participants were randomized.
On 20 synthetic paper excerpts, Pareto matched 94.33% of the expected field values. GPT-6.1 Sol scored the same on this set: 94.33%, a tie. GPT-6.1 Sol, served by Azure through OpenRouter. GPT-6.1 Sol did better on quotes found in the source; fewer fields flagged for review; complete, correctly formatted records.
GPT-6.1 Sol served by Azure through OpenRouter.
These are short synthetic excerpts, not real papers; the high scores leave limited room to distinguish the models and do not establish clinical accuracy.
Pareto: $3.64 per 1,000 paper excerpts, from measured usage at published rates.
GPT-6.1 Sol, served by Azure through OpenRouter: $4.96 per 1,000 paper excerpts, from measured usage at published rates.
These costs include recorded discounts for reused input text. Your inputs may cost a different amount.

It works on this machine, asks before writing files or secrets, and never needs your key in chat. Read the agent runbook
Use it to draft extraction records, not to approve clinical evidence. Convert permitted documents to text locally, freeze the fields, and require source quotes. Our labels are set by the generator, spot-checked by us with automated checks; human clinical adjudication is still outstanding.
On our synthetic excerpt set, Pareto measured field accuracy 0.9433 across 3 repeats. This is not a result on real papers or a clinical accuracy estimate.

Verdicts are computed from paired item resampling and the run ranges. Ties and losses stay in the record.
When not to use Pareto: do not use this small synthetic test to make treatment decisions or replace clinical reviewers. Full papers, scans and risk-of-bias assessment were not tested.
Run record20 test paper items and 4 dev items. Source: Original synthetic trial excerpts; generator-intended labels, automated spot-check; no human adjudication. License: CC0. No generator models.
Use the downloadable Python runner for the measured path. The framework cards describe unrun adaptations, not tested variants.
The scored runner sends each synthetic excerpt through a named forced tool. It checks exact values and literal quote presence offline. Field accuracy is averaged within each paper, then across papers after median repeat aggregation. Quotes appearing in text do not prove they support the value.
Download the fixture and executable files into a fresh folder. Read SOURCE.md and LICENSE.txt. The fixture contains fictional trial excerpts, not PMC articles. Check document licenses before converting or uploading real papers.
Choose a plan, then create a key after a person approves the account. Set UNBIASED_API_KEY in your environment, never in chat. The scored runner needs Python; planning also needs pip install tiktoken==0.14.0.
Run python3 -I run_eval.py --generate --arms pareto --split dev --limit 1 --repeats 1. The runner defaults to model pareto at https://api.unbiased.ai/v1 and rejects extra final tool calls rather than discarding them.
Unset the key, then run python3 -I run_eval.py --rescore RUN. For a saved tool-arguments file, use python3 -I check.py fixture.jsonl SYN-01 arguments.json. Expected examples include randomized_total "60", intervention "walking program", and funding null with an empty quote. Missing fields lower accuracy; schema validity also fails.
Null values and quotes missing from the source create local review flags. Inspect all clinical fields yourself, including unflagged fields. This is not a confidence estimate or an assessment of study quality.
pareto-26.10. Run record.scored run
This is the code used for the measured run, including the guarded standard-library HTTP transport. The standalone SDK example in recipe.py is an unrun convenience entry point; the scored run invokes request() through run_eval.py.

The measured baseline uses the same frozen prompt, tools and token limit. Azure required the shared transport to omit parallel_tool_calls; the named forced tool and extra-call checks stayed unchanged. The frozen downloadable runner supports OpenAI direct with OPENAI_API_KEY, not the Azure transport used here. After separate spend approval, run python3 -I run_eval.py --generate --arms baseline --repeats 3 --split test for a direct-provider comparison, not an exact provider reproduction.

A two-call diff can flag changed values for human review. It has not been run for this page. Repeated Pareto answers are correlated, and Pareto does not expose internal disagreement. Do not infer reliability from agreement.
card only
Adapt the record to typed fields and validate locally. This dataset has no Pydantic AI smoke receipt, so this is a card only.
card only
Use only dev examples for prompt experiments. ChainOfThought text output would need local parsing and a separate smoke receipt; it is not part of the scored recipe.
card only
Convert only documents whose license permits it, and inspect reading order and tables. OCR and PDF conversion have not been evaluated on this page.

}The fixture has twenty test excerpts and four dev excerpts, with fifteen fields each. Short templated examples are a limited extraction check. The original card proposed real PMC papers and human adjudication; neither is represented by these results. Cross-arm agreement and disagreement-based error capture remain unmeasured. Pareto may include GPT-6.1 Sol among the models it selects, so the two answers are not independent.
Python standard-library scored transport; forced toolsMeasured on Pareto 26.10; synthetic excerpts only
Check tool calls and error handling on your own work before relying on it.
Pareto is Unbiased’s blended AI model: it selects frontier and open models for each request and blends their outputs into one answer.
How a Pareto answer gets made →Costs below use measured tokens for both arms per excerpt request, not per extracted field. They apply published token rates, not a provider invoice.
Token costs include measured cache reads; output tokens already include reasoning. The run time is a request-rate floor, not measured latency. One record is one excerpt, including all requested fields. Plan selection does not itself authorize production use. Confirm commercial or production use in a separate written agreement with Unbiased before moving live traffic.
No. These are original fictional trial excerpts released as public domain (Creative Commons Zero). They contain no patient data and no PMC text. Labels set by the generator, spot-checked by us through automated field-to-source checks. Human clinical review is still needed.
Exact values after case and whitespace normalization. Each paper contributes its fraction of correct fields. We take the median across repeats, then average papers. Missing fields count as incorrect. This is different from the email-and-note recipe in structured extraction.
No. Quote match measures a verbatim substring, not entailment. A quote can be present and still support the wrong field. A qualified reviewer must check the reported value, endpoint and study context.
The local checker flags null values and quotes absent from the source. A missing flag is not evidence that a field is correct. Inspect unflagged fields too. No internal Pareto disagreement is exposed.
Not as validation. This small synthetic set does not cover full papers, scans, conflicting tables, clinical bias or real-world review accuracy. Use a review protocol and qualified clinical reviewers before relying on extracted data.
No. The prompt, fixture and scoring rules were committed before inference. Dev repeats checked the execution path; no tuning followed. Missing fields in the measured test remain errors.
